SAME FIVE

How it works

Everyone gets the same five.

  1. 01

    Same five for everyone

A new challenge goes live at 00:00 UTC. Everyone in the world gets the same five questions — logic, memory, patterns, estimation and more.

  2. 02

    Twenty seconds a question, once

You get one official attempt and a fresh 20-second clock for each question. The clocks are kept by our server, so a slow connection never costs you time you didn't use.

  3. 03

    See where you stand

Your result shows your rank on the day's live leaderboard and, once at least 50 people have played, the share of players you beat.

  4. 04

    Challenge a friend

Share your result. Friends who open your link get the same five and a score to beat.

Scoring

  • Each correct answer is worth 2,000 points — a perfect run is 10,000.
  • Speed never adds points. Your completion time only breaks ties on the leaderboard.
  • Unanswered questions when time runs out count as incorrect.
  • If a question turns out to be wrong, we void it and rescale everyone's score to the remaining questions.

Streaks

Finish the daily challenge on consecutive UTC days to build your streak. Guests keep a streak on this device; create a free account to save it anywhere.

The questions

Each day mixes categories — logic, patterns, visual puzzles, memory, wordplay, estimation, general knowledge, prediction, speed and mini puzzles — with no more than two from the same one, and a fixed difficulty curve: two easier, two medium and one harder question. Answers can be a single choice, a this-or-that pick, a point on a scale or putting items in order. Every question is reviewed by a person before it is used, and factual ones are checked against a source. The correct answers and explanations are revealed on your result once that day's challenge has closed.

Ways to answer

Pick one
Choose the one correct option. Your choice is locked in as soon as you pick it.
This or that
Two options, head to head; pick the right one.
Pick a point on a scale
The options are steps on a scale, from lowest to highest. Choose the step that matches your answer.
Put in order
Arrange the items into the right order. You can change it until you press Lock in order.
Memorise first
Something is shown for a few seconds and then hidden. The question about it follows.

Playing well

  • Every question gets its own twenty seconds, so read the whole question before you answer. A memory question shows its card first, and its clock starts when the question appears.
  • Accuracy is everything: a correct answer is 2,000 points and speed only breaks ties. Never rush a question to save a second.
  • An unanswered question scores the same as a wrong one, so if the clock is nearly out, commit to your best guess.
  • On estimation questions, settle the order of magnitude first, then the exact value.
  • For memory questions, give the item your full attention while it is on screen; you cannot bring it back.

More answers are in the FAQ, and every past day's questions, answers and explanations are in Past challenges.

The leaderboard

The daily leaderboard ranks everyone who played today by score, then by who finished fastest, and updates live while the challenge is open. Each person gets one official attempt; automated fair-play checks flag unusual results for review, and results that break the rules are removed. You can hide your name in your settings.

Do I need an account?

No — anyone aged 16 or older can play as a guest. A free account keeps your streak, records and results on any device, puts your name on the leaderboard, lets you add friends and includes three practice sessions a day. If you play first and create an account within 24 hours, that day's result comes with you. Same Five Pro adds personalised training and unlimited practice; the daily challenge is always free.
